"Dear Sir. As Treasurer of the fund for the relief of poor widows and orphans of clergymen in the Diocese of Ely, I beg leave to acknowledge your payment of a benefaction of three guineas from the Master & Fellows of Jesus College. The amounts were balanced and the state printed before the benefaction was received, which will explain the reason for its omission, but I have placed it to the account of the charity, & in aid of it I shall thankfully receive, as I trust, a similar benefaction to be invested in the state of next year. I am Sir yours obediently.
