Correspondence with enclosed receipts between B.L. Manning, Bursar of Jesus College, and Mr. Clark, tenant responsible for the repairs of Lubbing's farm, Canvey Island. Mr Clark demands reinbursement for repairs to the buildings and brickwork on the property, including land tax and wall rate, enclosing receipts (20th October 1921). The Bursar points out that such repairs have not been communicated to college beforehand and asks for further clarification (29th October 1921). Clark affirms that he has always "enjoyed the confidence of the College Bursars" and that therefore he deemed superfluous to ask for permission, as he has "always been allowed the cost of the work out of the rent". He suggests meeting in Cambridge on 16th November 1921 to discuss the matter (8th November 1921). The Bursar accepts but still reiterates the necessity to acquire college consent in advance of undertaking repairs, enclosing 1920 accounts and receipts as an example (11th November 1921).
