The Cockerel ConsortConsists of a letter (with related documents) inviting Bronowski to contribute an essay to be discussed at a symposium at the Museum of Modern Art, with a reply declining. The symposium was to be part of a project on "Institutions for post-Technological Society" (the Universitas project) run by the Museum and the Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies.
Includes information on the symposium and planned publication of essays, a list of invited contributors, a list of members of the board of research advisors, and a bound volume of project working paper for the Universitas Project.
Consists of a letter from Dillon Ripley (secretary of the Smithsonian Institution) on proposals for a Museum of Man, with a reply from Bronowski. Includes copies of an article by Ripley and an internal letter on the proposed Museum.
Comprises correspondence with National Heritage, which organised the Museum Action Movement to support museums and art galleries in the United Kingdom. Subjects include establishing National Heritage, Bronowski becoming a council member, and the organisation's activities.
Also includes related reports, copies of press articles, a copy of the constitution of National Heritage, a newsletter and promotional leaflet.

Consists of a published copy of Murdoch's Leslie Stephen Lecture, annotated "J Bronowski 1968" with passages marked [by Bronowski], with an envelope listing the lecture.
Correspondence concerning proposed munitions work to be carried out in the garage and the reassurance it would not involve explosives but the use of the lathes to turn shell caps from the rough castings. Also letters from The Brunswick Motor Co. requesting a reduction in rent.
Bunches of keys in box stating 'from muniment room desk'. Labels on bunches of keys indicate they were used to open metal boxes used to store documents. Makers of keys include Hobbs & Co London, Yale and Belfry Brand.

Ashton, Charles (1665-1752), Master of Jesus College, CambridgeFlyleaf has title: "Collectanea ad procancellarii officium spectantia. An. 1702. C. A.". It contains a copy of the University's statutes of 1570, wth annotations by the transcriber, Dr Charles Ashton (Master 1701-52). JCGB/5/1/2 is a companion volume.
Ashton, Charles (1665-1752), Master of Jesus College, Cambridge(1) 27th November 1891 - letter from Mr Solly to the College asking if he could rent the land in the Trumpington Field behind Mr Beale's house which he intended turning into a poultry farm. He also asked for permission to erect a small "one storey portable galvanised iron cottage for his man to live in and guard his valuable birds. Note on the back to say the College Council had agreed
(2) 19th February 1892 - letter from Alfred Kett to the College asking if they had given their sanction for a large shed looking place to be put up and used as a dwelling house. He complains that it is close to the back of his house and garden so that he is overlooked and it is a great nuisance
(3) 19th February 1892 - letter to Mr Kett from E. H. Morgan confirming that the tenant did get permission before he built the hut and he had measured the distance from the hut to the wall at 52 yards. He also says that he is sorry his tenant has had his view of the Trumpington fields interrupted
(4) 22nd February 1892 - letter from Mr Kett to E. H. Morgan thanking him for his response and apologising that his tenant had not measured the distance from the hut to the garden wall before complaining and Mr Kett writing to the College
Correspondence concerning Mr Solly's offer to lease or buy a small piece of land so that he could continue with his poultry farm (the remainder of the land that he had been leasing had been sold to Messrs Rattee & Kett)
Five income tax receipts, for the tax years 1861 and 1862, for Mr Seymour of All Saints parish, dated 23 April 1862 (16s 1/2d); 18 July 1862 (16s 1/2d); 21 October 1862 (£1 12s 1/2d) and two for 7 March 1862 (£1 2s 3d and 4s 6d). The first three are signed by R Peters and the final two are signed by H Fuller.
The final item is a note adding up the above charges.

Carter Jonas & Sons (dated 17th October 1934) informing the College that they had received an application from Mr Jacklin for the house at a rent of £40 per annum subject to the College converting the top back bedroom into a bathroom at a cost of £25 10s 0d, providing a new sink in the scullery and allowing the tenant £15 towards internal decorations. Mr Jacklin was employed by the Eastern Counties Omnibus Company and he proposed to have one or two boarders "of the Bank Clerk type"
