Scope and content

Comprises correspondence, mainly with Professor Thomas A Sebeok (Indiana University and editor of 'Current Trends in Linguistics' vol. 12), relating to Bronowski contributing an essay on 'The Biological Foundations of Language' to volume 12 of 'Current Trends in Linguistics'. Publication was delayed by illnesses of Bronowski and Sebeok, and the title of Bronowski's chapter was changed to 'Language in a Biological Frame'.

Also includes a letter requesting permission from Sebeok to reprint Bronowski's article (1975), a copy of a page of notes by Bronowski on "the characterization of human language" (10 Feb 1972), and an annotated proof copy of 'Language in a Biological Frame'.
