Comprises: copies of letters relating to agreements for the publication of Bronowski's Silliman ('The Origins of Knowledge and Imagination'), Mellon (Art as a Mode of Knowledge') and Bampton ('Magic, Science and Civilisation') lecture series; copies of correspondence with Professor C H van Schooneveld (department of Slavic Language and Literature, Indiana University) about a proposal for Bronowski to combine 2 of his essays on language for publication together as a book on 'Language and Biology' for the 'Janua Linguarum' series; a memorandum on a volume of collected papers, 'Language in a Biological Frame', which included 'The Biological Foundations of Language' by Bronowski; a copy of a letter about Bronowski cancelling a talk on 'The Impersonality of Science' ['20th Century Images of Man'] due to be given before the Technology and Culture seminar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (May 1973); copies of letters inviting Bronowski to contribute to a symposium organised by the Smithsonian Institution and the National Academy of Sciences (Washington D C) to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Nicolaus Copernicus (Apr 1973); a copy of a letter about the Aharon Katchalsky Memorial symposium (University of California, 1973); a copy of a letter from Bronowski agreeing to attend the 12th General Assembly of CIPSH (International Council for Philosophy and Humanistic Studies) of UNESCO and present a paper on 'The Experience of Creation' (1973); copies of correspondence relating to Sylvia Fitzgerald enquiring when papers by Bronowski would be published; and lists of lectures Bronowski was due to give, conferences and symposia he was due to attend, scheduled visits to educational establishments and publications due (c. 1974-1976).
