Scope and content

Written from moor Monkton. Glad to receive Val's note adn that they returned to Cambridge with so little fatigue to French. Saw Mr. Calvert at York last week but he no longer wishes to part with the land for the Chapel. Not sure what to do now as can't get proper estimates without a site. Asks French to write to Fountayne Wilson about it. How did he find the Captain on his return to Harrogate. Mr. Russel has heard nothing about the railroad. Mrs R had another son. He will take his gun in hand this year by way of exercise and amusement. Lord J. Russell appears to have weathered the storm. Gyp is well and improves with conduct. He leaves that day for a week with the Smyth's in Lincolnshire.
