Scope and content

Sir,
The state of my health being so very indifferent (not being able to leave the house) has prevented my paying my respects to you personally, to state that being too unwell to attend to business, I have made an arrangement with my uncle (Geo[rge] Bullen Cherry Hinton) to occupy the Farm near the Hills Road, and to which I hope the Master and Fellows of Jesus College will not object, it will be farmed upon the same system, and the rent will be paid as usual by the executors of the late Jon[nathan] Bullen.
This being the year of Renewal I beg you will take the trouble to lay before the Master & Fellows the request of the executors to renew the Lease.
I remain Sir your most obedient
Geo[rge] Bullen Surveyer

Catherine and George Bullen as Executors to the late Revd Jon[athan] Bullen, respectfully request of the Master, and Fellows, of Jesus College, to renew for the term of 21 years the Lease of land lying in Barnwell Parish Cambridge.
Should the Master & Fellows be willing to renew the said Lease, it is hoped on the part of leesee that they will take into consideration not only the present price of corn(?) but the future prospect of the agricultural produce, so that in setting the time the leesee may be enabled to meet the views of the Society.
