Scope and content

Copy of a letter from Stewart Lyon to May Sinclair, typescript, single page, dated 17 September 2001, commenting on a polaroid photograph of a purported Anglo-Saxon gold coin in superb condition and associated information. The photograph is not with the letter, but CSSL says that the coin is in such good condition "that one might be forgiven for thinking it newly minted from fresh dies". He wonders whether any active forger has "the knowledge and skill to create such an object". He says that he will be in London for the BNS meeting on 23 October and will call that afternoon if Spink still has the coin. He is copying the letter to Hugh [Pagan] and Ian [Stewart]. There is a manuscript note in the upper right margin that reads "Copy for Ian".
