Scope and content
Letter from Peter Woodhead, in manuscript, one folio (recto & verso), dated 22 April 1974, providing cover for a list of the German coins in which he has no interest with estimates of market value, totalling some 6000 DM (see attachment). He plans to go to Germany at the end of May, when he will see what price he can negotiate. He suggests that they agree on a "rock-bottom" figure and he'll try to get more. If they cannot achieve a suitable price, he recommends putting the coins into a sale in Germany. He says that he is preparing a similar list of the coins in which he is interested but is finding it more difficult to come up with prices on the basis of sales catalogues because these coins are rarer. On another matter, he says that George Tatler has been in touch to ask offprints of the Renfrew and Loch Doon treasure trove reports. He sent Loch Doon offprint to GLVT but only has his file copy of the Renfrew paper and asks IS whether he has a copy to send him. The attachment consists in a two-page manuscript list of IS's German coins in which PW has no interest with their respective values in DM as of April 1974. The list gives the mint, issuing authority and denomination or name of each coin.
