Letter from Michael Metcalf, in manuscript, single page, dated 1 June 1968, returning something to IS [the coin?] that he had mislaid and informing IS of the results from x-ray analysis of his Aethelred/Ceolbald [coin]: 67-74% Ag, 22-29% Cu, 0.25% Au, an estimated 4% Sn and a trace of Pb, with an explanation for the uncertainty surrounding the tin and comparison of the silver content with some other coins of the reign.
