Letter from Michael Metcalf with copy of Ian Stewart's reply:
(a) letter from Michael Metcalf to Ian Stewart, manuscript, single page, dated 29 June 1987, sending IS a set of proofs with his original manuscript, asking him to check the proofs and to return them with the manuscript. He adds that he is preparing a discussion note on obverse-to-reverse die ratios.
(b) reply from Ian Stewart to Michael Metcalf, manuscript (photocopy), single page, dated 6 July 1987, returning the proofs, which he describes as "Cunnetti proofs", and noting that there are two main changes, both suggested by Stewart Lyon, which IS wishes to incorporate. He also asks for insertions of references to Veronica [Smart] and notes an onomastic allusion that he found in a novel by Anthony Powell. Note that the volume in which the Cunnetti article appeared (see Related units of description) bears a 1986 publication date.
