Scope and content

Letter from Mark Blackburn commenting on an article by IS on Henry I. The letter includes two tables, one with rows that lists, by type, the (1) "actual no. of moneyers", (2) "projected no. of moneyers", (3) "no. not recorded again", (4) "no. of coins in hoards", (5) "no. in BMC, SCBI, FM, FEJ", and (6) "no. in recent single-finds" for William II type 5 and Henry I types 1-15. The other lists the obverse legends on coins [of Henry I] with Lincoln and York mint signatures, again by type. The letter concludes with reference to a muled halfpenny and news that the Fitzwilliam has received £25,000 for Christopher [Blunt]'s collection. The five-page attachment is a photocopy of a table that represents [Michael] Dolley's arrangement for the coins of William II and Henry I, organised by mint, moneyer and type.
