Scope and content
Letter from Kenaz Tasker, in manuscript, two pages on two small folios, dated from Prestwich (Manchester) on 12 September 1974 (i.e. "12-9-74", but NB that KT has dated another of his letters to IS with the month preceding the day, i.e. March 8th 1975; for the letter of 1975, see JCPP/Stewartby/1/1/TASKER/1975/1), with four attachments. In the letter, KT thanks IS for his letter and suggests that there are at least four coins [from the Prestwich hoard?] of Stewart type IV (David) that may interest him as well as one North-Eastern irregular and a Stephen. KT notes that "the British Museum retained quite a good selection of Davids". The four attachments consist in images of the obverse and reverse of two coins:
(a) coin 1 of David I of Scotland (?), obv.
(b) coin 1 of David I of Scotland (?), rev.
(c) coin 2 of David I of Scotland (?), obv.
(d) coin 2 of David I of Scotland (?), rev.
(e) Sales catalogue of the Prestwich hoard of silver pennies, Last of the Norman kings: Henry I, David I of Scotland, Stephen. On the inside back cover, the catalogue carries full address and telephone number, in manuscript, of Mr Kenaz Tasker, Silver Penny Lodge, Prestwich, Manchester.
