Scope and content

Letter from Christopher Blunt to J. M. Wallace-Hadrill, typescript (copy), single page, dated 31 January 1979, regarding plans [of the British Academy] to place the publication of the Sylloge of coins of the British Isles [SCBI] under the umbrella of the Publications Committee. CEB expresses the concern [of the SCBI Committee] that any such arrangement may "involve an additional cog in the editorial machine" and/or hold up SCBI publications to fit into the broader publications programme of the Academy. He welcomes the fact that the new arrangement would relieve the Committee of its financial responsibilities but he would also welcome the opportunity to discuss the matter in the interest of clarity. He proposes a meeting and suggests that Ian Stewart, another Committee member, also attend, further stating that Committee Chairman Dorothy Whitelock asked him to do this. He suggests meeting at the House of Commons.
