Scope and content
Written from Burgh Castle. Announces that after discussion with the senior proctor he has been appointed one of the select preachers. He had previously thought he wouldn't preach at the University but after talking to a couple of neighbours they said he should. Burdakin then wrote to him asking if he would be a select preacher. Any advice French can give with regard the sermons would be welcome. He refers to a puppy that is being temporarily looked after by French but hopes that Burdakin will bring the puppy back to Burgh Castle next time he visits from Cambridge. Mentions Sir Edward Lacon has entirely disinherited his eldest son in consequence of his having made a marriage he disapproved. The second son gets £10,000 a year whilst the other children receive £10,000. The youngest son has given the eldest a share in the bank which amounts to a small share in the brewery and which the present Baronet relies on. After his visit to the Lodge, Green asks whether there is any chance they could meet somewhere on the East Coast. Red wax seal with the name Elizabeth on it.
