Scope and content

Letter detailing payment of rent as follows: 'I am sorry to have put you to some inconvenience in not sending the cheque for rent last Saturday, should have done it then, but you are rather particular & have the bills before for inspection. I have not troubled you about repairs this year, knowing how much you dislike having too much done, which I myself have done by best to spare you, have done a lot out of my own pocket. I mentioned you last year about the wales for the premises and you kindly allowed me to and sent a well, wheat was a little for such a purpose, that is why I mentioned putting down the trees I had are spoiling about the farm. My idea was to do the repairs myself as the tradesmen are so expensive. I have enclosed cheque value £73 3s 8d (?) this is quite correct, will endeavour to let you have the cheque next year much sooner'
