Letter addressed to the Bursar as follows:
'I have been rather surprised Rattee and Kett sending me in the like for doing up the bathroom and downstairs lavatory. I have just sent a cheque for the liability £11 18s 8d. I told him to send the further £15 17s 2d to the college. I am writing to you because I do not want you to think I ran you into succession. It seemed the fain that as alterations has to be done owing to the Sanitary Inspectors Repast it was fain that the damage done during alterations should be made good. I asked Hayhol particularly about the difference between painting and papering the bathroom she said roughly about £1-£2. I quite think I should pay that difference and also think I should warn you that £15 17s 2d was far beyond what I was told the cost would be. Please forgive an invoice letter but I did not want you to think I was trying to do you after you have been so good to me!'
