1843 - James Rattee set up a wood and stone carving works next to his house, Poplar Cottage, in Station Road
1848 - James Rattee and George Kett went into partnership
George Kett was descended from Robert Kett who lead Kett's Rebellion in 1549
1897 - Partnership was formed between George Kett and his 2 sons, George Robert Kett and Edmund Joseph Kett
1926 - The partnership was dissolved and the business was sold to Rattee and Kett Limited. The vast majority of shares were held by John Mowlem and Co Ltd. George Robert Kett continued as manager
Rattee and Kett started to move to property they owned in Purbeck Road in the 1940s. First the stoneworks, then the rest of the business in the 1950s
Following an acquisition of Mowlem by Carillion in February 2006, Rattee and Kett was the subject of a management buy out from Carillion in March 2007 but went into administration in September 2011
