Mainly comprises correspondence between Bronowski and Salk relating to planning and establishing the Institute for Biological Studies at San Diego (called the Salk Institute for Biological Studies from c. 1962).
Also includes: a draft press release (written for Salk by Bronowski) about the building, organisational structure and aims of the Institute (12 Dec 1961); memoranda and reports on proposed areas of interest for the Institute and increasing the number of trustees; minutes of a meeting held in Paris between Bronowski, Salk, Francis Crick, Jacques Monod, Mel Cohn and Ed Lennox, to discuss research work of the Institute and choice of Fellows (4 Feb 1962); and a draft letter of invitation for appointment as a Resident Fellow without term (3 May 1962).
