College Maintenance & Building Invoice & Receipt

Invoice for college maintenance and building from John Turner & Son to the Master & Fellows of Jesus College from 22nd of December 1830 to 19th of October 1831. Includes work done to Courts (carting land, cleaning vault to servant's out office, ceiling and floor repairs, cleaning and mending servants' hall, repairing & whitewashing porter's lodge, bricklaying, repairing plastering in cloisters, staircase repair, repairing and plastering the stables), work done to the Hall (painting to windows after glaziers, bricklaying, repairing chimney), work done to chapel (cobwebing(?) the chapel, bricklaying), work done to Kitchen (cleaning oven, making new flue for stove, bricklaying, whitewashing, limewashing, colouring, repairing coppers), work done to Buttery (repairing & whitewashing, painting, plastering). Total of £17 9s 2 1/2d.

Invoice for work done to Lodge (repairing stove, repairing plastering and whitewashing). Total of £1 2s 3d.

Includes glazing walls, bricklaying, repairing walls, cleaning drains, paving, emptying cesspool, repairing plastering, whitewashing , repairing tops of chimenys, cleaning oven, cobwebbing part of chapel. Total of £19 7d.

Invoice for work one to the Lodge from Nov 23 1831 to August 11 1832. Includes repairing the hood of chimney, repairing plastering, relaying out the office floor, whitewashing ceiling, stove colouring. Total of £4 16s 3 1/2d.

Receipt received of the Rev Dr French the sum of £19 7d, being the mount of bill delivered for work done at Jesus College. Signed John Turner.

Includes to the marking a brick cesspool behind the Greyhound public house, 1 day of 3 bricklayers and 3 labours, morter, carting 2000 bricks, making drain from cesspool to the other drain. Brought over from previous page on courts work, dated October 26th 1833, for paving and bricklaying. Total court work is £13 14s 1 1/2d.

Next section is on work done to kitchens from December 6th 1832 to September 14th 1833. Includes cleaning, repairing the furnace, bricklaying, repairing copper stoves and repairing plasterning and whitewashing. Total kitchen work £4 15s 1/2d.

Next section is on work done to buttery from June 29th 1833 to September 31st 1833. Includes repairing and plastering wine bring(?), bricklaying, limewashing cellar and fixing stove and whitewashing. Total buttery work £1 11s 3d.

Next section is on stables work on July 12th 1833. Includes repairing, paiting and plastering. Total 11s 9d.

Lodge accounts from January 15th 1833 to July 13th 1833, inlcudes fireing the chimney pot, bricklaying, emptying cesspools, raising chimney and plastering the bottom, whitewashing the kitchn and pantry, new furnace to oven, finishing plastering on staircase, running beeds(?)/ Total of £8 12s 9d.

Also noted July 13th falling trees & clearing away, part of them about 20 in number. Total of 7s.
