Jesus College Chapterhouse

Largely relating to the collegiate phase, a moderately sized finds assemblage was recovered during the recent investigations and which comprises metalwork, pottery, glass, clay tobacco pipe, worked bone, worked stone, ceramic building materials and moulded stone); the site’s economic data (i.e. animal bone) is presented upon thereafter.

1 piece is Samian, 3 are 18th or 19th century. Samian sherd is 9g with rouletted decoration. Identified by K.Anderson, this is a fragment of a Central Gaulish 18R dish (1st-2nd century AD).

Some butchery. Mostly sheep/goat and cattle. Both immature and adult individuals, and both meaty joints and waste elements.

Six sherds of pottery, consisting of three Nene Valley colour coated wares and three sandy greywares. One of the sherds of Nene Valley ware is decorated with white painted swirls and berries, dating it to the 3rd century AD.
