The Association for Life Insurance is founded upon the principle of mutual guarantee - the whole surplus capil, being dividied amongst the representatives of the Members, by additions made to the amount secured by their Policies - Bonusses of £20, £24 and £25 per cent on the Premium paid have been declared upon all Policies issued prior to July 1815 and bonusses of £24 and £25 per cent on Policies issued between July 1815 and July 1822 and July 1829. The Premnums, under 45, are nearly 10 per cent, below most other Offices. - As an instance of the great utility of Life Insurance, it may be remarked, that a person in his 28th year, may, by an annual payment of 2l. 6s. 8d. insure £100 payable to his executors at his decease; or for 23l 6s. 8d. may insure £1000, and thus, at a moderate yearly expense, preserve his family from distress. The rapid progress of this Society is evidenced by the amount of its Preminums, which, at the undermentioned periods, stood as follows: -

In the last 12 months, upwards of 800 Policies were issued, and the sum insured thereon amounted to about 6000,000l.

Also a table exhibiting the yearly premium which a person must pay during the whole of his life, to insure 100l. to his family or nominee, independent of the additions which may be made to that sum of the savings of the Office. [Table included].

Received of Jesus College the sum of 18s, being the amount of premium for insuring £600 from the 25th day of December 1832 to the 25th day of Decembber 1833 and also 18s being the amount of the duty (at the rate of 3s per cent.) imposed by Act of Parliament.

Chapman for work done around the college from 20th November 1833, includes repairing porter's ladder, a nife(?) board for the porter's lodge, a new panel to the pupils'(?) out office foor. Total of 6s 6d. On 7th December received of Dr French, signed by John Winter.

Bill from the Revd the bursar to Joseph Langram, dated April 29th 1833. For 2 days work to removing and repairing fence and pitching rope for gence. Total of £5 6s. Setteld by Joseph Langram on May 1st 1833. Also noted ditch on (?) agent £2 6s. Signed by Joseph Langram with his mark.

Invoice from the Rev Master & Fellows of Jesus College to T. Chapman, lodge account, for work done around the college from January 10 to July 18 1833. Includes new sash light and fusing(?) in the butler's pantry, wainscotting in the entrance hall, new pair of shutters, repairing window seat, 2 new latches and doors in the farden, 2 new sells to doors in laundr, new floor in butler's pantry, easing front gates, mending windows in butler's pantry. Total of £2 17s 9d. December 7th, received of Dr French from John Winter.

Bill from Master and Fellows of Jesus College to John Turner & Son for work done to Courts, obverse of first page from dates Dec 8 1832 to Oct 12 1833. Includes repaving, glazing, bricklaying, repairing plastering, whitewashing, emptying bault to servant's out offices, whitewashing and colouring 4 staircases & entrance to the porter's lodge. Total of £12 19s 5 1/2d.

Receipt dated December 7th 1833, received of the Rev Dr French the sum of £29 12s 5d for work done at Jesus College. Signed John Turner and Son.

Lodge accounts from January 15th 1833 to July 13th 1833, inlcudes fireing the chimney pot, bricklaying, emptying cesspools, raising chimney and plastering the bottom, whitewashing the kitchn and pantry, new furnace to oven, finishing plastering on staircase, running beeds(?)/ Total of £8 12s 9d.

Also noted July 13th falling trees & clearing away, part of them about 20 in number. Total of 7s.

Next section is on work done to buttery from June 29th 1833 to September 31st 1833. Includes repairing and plastering wine bring(?), bricklaying, limewashing cellar and fixing stove and whitewashing. Total buttery work £1 11s 3d.

Next section is on stables work on July 12th 1833. Includes repairing, paiting and plastering. Total 11s 9d.

Includes a new side for a wheelbarrow, putting in fence next to the Common, making of a rafter for the lodge house, repairing the door, wall hooks to butterings in the cloisters. Total of £2 19s 10 1/2 d.

Includes skirting the staircases and laundry, putting up angle beads, mending the floor, purchase of nails, new handrail, repair of window frame. Total of £13 5s 9d.

Reverse of the bill from the Masters and Fellows of Jesus College to J. Webster for work done in the Master's Lodge, dated from August 24th to September 14th 1833. Includes purchase of nails and the making and hanging of a new door, as well as installing a new lock. Carried on from obverse calculations, total of £13 3s.

Bill from the Master and Fellows of Jesus College to J. Webster for work done in the Master's Lodge from August 24th to September 14th 1833. Includes putting up of stud work door jambs(?), skirting, work altering staircases. Total of £11 8s 7d.

Third page of bill for ironwork in Jesus College to Shallow and Coleman.

Kitchen ironwork from 29th Ocotober 1832 to 2nd Ocotber 1833, includes 2 bars for the stove, mending and sharpening the beef hook, foot of salamander, straightening the bar to the range, oiling (?), new centre to worn spindle, mending dripping pan, plate under oven, mend latch on the repaired oven. In additional hand noted "deduct for Salamander", signed M. Willis. Total of £6 8s 2d.

Overall calcuations for all ironwork around the college comes to £19 4s 5d.

Second page of bill for ironwork from Jesus College to Shallow and Coleman. Continued Courts ironwork, including cutting 2 steps out of stone lead fixing, screw bolt and fixing the (?) gate, cutting bars out of windows, new ends of bars for windows etc. Total of £6 11s 3d.

Combination Room ironwork from April 13th until 7th Ocotober 1833 includes cleaned and repairing lamp and jagged cotton(?) holders, new bench for the stove, cleaned bar to the stove, bleached stove, cleaned irons and sender(?). Total of 11s.

Hall ironwork on 21st November 1832 and 13th April 1833, cleaned stove and cleaned lamp. Total of 4s.

Clock ironwork on 2nd February 1833, mended spindle to minute hand, mended wire to sticking(?), one year winding. Total of £4 19s 6d (winding is £4 19s 6d).

Ironwork done to the Master's Lodge includes a "good" padlock, putting 2 staples to cellar door, and laye(?) lock to outer door. Total of 10s 6d.

Ironwork done to Courts includes bar to window (?) Master's garden, lead fixings, mending barrows, purchase of screws, lock fixed on stable gate, mending of ladder, fixed gate of Close, 6 men for putting up the front gate, new eye to the top hinge of the front gate, as well as more modifications to the front gate. Total of £3 18s 8d.

Painting bill from Jesus College to John Goode & Son dated November 7th 1832 to August 19th 1833. Work on the Porter's Lodge includes varnishing tables, rubbing down of rooms, light sashes and frames painted, staircase painted, walls painted. Total of £10 4s 3d.

Continued painting bill for College staircases, including painting the staircase by the Porter's Lodge, painting of light sashes, window seat grained and varnished, H Staircase in clositers installation of skirting, H staircase 2 over white 49ft skirting 2 over Chocolate at 1 1/2d. Total of £4 2s 1 1/2d.

Courts work includes estimate fror scraping, clearing and puttying and painting 2 over the whole of the sashes frames bans(?) casemets and comices(?) in Cloister Court, great encrance gates to the Lodge Garden scraped, cleared, puttyed and painted 2 over best N. Green both sides 23 yards at 9d. Total of £8 7d carried over.
