File concerning the renewal of the lease in the name of Mr James Hodgson, dated 6th May 1845, (deceased) and held by his wife Mrs Mary Ann Hodgson. Arthur Westmorland (Bursar) makes it clear that before the lease could be renewed repair work set out in a schedule drawn up by Richard Reynolds Rowe had to be completed. Includes the specification listing in detail the repair work to be done; letters between the solicitors representing both sides about the terms of the lease; a letter from Mary Ann Hodgson saying the repairs were well in hand and requesting the lease be renewed and transferred to her son in law Mr H. Whiting with whom she lived as she was "getting very aged" [she was 82]; a site plan of the property showing the outline and dimensions; and an abstract of title

25th May 1871 - Two letters and a plan from John W. Scudamore proposing the College grant him a 99 year building lease of land so that he could create a new road linking Station Road and Hills Road. "Declined" is written at the bottom of the letter
1st November 1887 - 8th November 1889 - series of letters addressed to Hugh Shield (Bursar) concerning the sale of land to the Cambridge Improvement Commissioners for a new road to be built between Station Road and Mill Road [Tenison Road]
Letters from B. Bevan (College Surveyor) and the Cambridge Corporation to the College concerning the construction of a covered drain instead of an open ditch running from Garlic Fair Lane [Park Street] to the River. Includes a report from the Corporation in which they agreed to give up part of the ditch to the College on condition that they built a brick wall not less than 10 feet from the wall constructed by the Corporation [it was to be 12 ft wide at one end narrowing to 10 ft at the other end].

(1) legal opinion of the Sir Nicholas Conyngham Tindal (the Solicitor General) regarding the validity of a 40 year building lease granted to Joseph Smith (builder) in 1824. Sir Nicolas ruled that the lease was invalid because there were no buildings on the land at the time of the lease;
(2) a memorandum connected with building houses on New Square;
(3) a letter from Mr Randall addressed to Dr French about the sale of the leasehold and an accompanying letter from Christopher Pemberton (College Solicitor) giving his opinion on Mr Randall's actions;
(4) a declaration by the College respecting the rents of Ropemakers Close and Gravel Close during the unexpired term of the lease granted to Mr William Bullen.
Letter from the Bursar to H. M. Inspector of Taxes confirming that on the expiry of the lease on No. 10 at Ladyday 1934 the property was let to Mrs South. The yard and building at the back fronting Elm Street was let to Mt. T. W. Neech.
