Photocopy of a card from Simon Blunt, manuscript, dated 25 January 1990, also containing a photocopied photograph of a coin. The card with integral photo is in two copies, at varying levels of contrast and brightness. The card reads as follows: "Ian, Here is the photo of the gold thrymsa found by the Mr Palmer who found the Offa coin. Do you want to come down here over Easter? Rain-check on [...]. Simon
Blunt, Simon W.Group of five papers regarding Christopher E. Blunt and his Coin Collection, plus two newspaper reports:
(a) 'Biographical Data of C. E. Blunt', typescript (photocopy), three pages on three folios (recto only), unattributed and undated but written in the first person and therefore datable to before 20 November 1987 when CEB died.
(b) 'Further Biographical data of E. E. Blunt', typescript (photocopy), two pages on two folios (recto only)
Letter from Simon Blunt, manuscript, six pages on three folios (one of a different size and variety from the other two), dated 28 January 1990, listing the correspondence of his father, Christopher Blunt, to Christopher's mother (i.e. Simon's grandmother). He said that his father wrote the early letters while stationed "in an anti-aircraft defence near London" and "his letters from France were censored and thus contain little detail of what he did". The list is chronological, giving the date and place from which he was writing, sometimes giving very brief details of his activities, from 7 September 1939 to Christmas 1945. The letter then describes relevant passages referring from the diary kept by Hilda Blunt during the War, which gives further details of Christopher's activities from 2 September 1939 to January 1945. On the third folio, the one that differs from the other two, Simon Blunt says that there are also five volumes of Christopher's war diaries, giving his views on events and confirming not only his role in working on the plans for the D-Day invasion but his great relief at the successful landing. There is still more detail, he says, in his war letters to Elisabeth [his wife and Simon's mother] and in her replies, but Simon says that he has not had time to go through them. He asks that IS return the first two pages of the letter, as they provide a useful summary of event.
Blunt, Simon W.Letter from Simon Blunt, manuscript, two pages on one folio (recto & verso), dated 21 January 1992, expressing gratitude to IS for "such a wonderful tribute to his [father's] life and work", in reference to Ian Stewart's memoir of Christopher Blunt for the Proceedings of the British Academy.
Blunt, Simon W.Letter from Simon Blunt to his sisters Anne Caroline Morrison (née Blunt) and Judith Elisabeth Mustoe (née Blunt), typescript, single page, dated 18 June 2012, noting that Ian Stewartby had been to the house and spent three days looking through the library, fulfilling a promise that he had made to Christopher Blunt to assume responsibility for the library. On his recommendation, two additional volumes were given to the Fitzwilliam Museum. He further recommended that the rest be sold before demand for books dwindled any more than it already had, due to the availability of so much material on-line. Lord Stewartby also put the family in touch with prominent numismatic book dealer Douglas Saville. SWB says that Douglas Saville spoke highly of CEB, describing him as "the perfect English gentleman", and he encloses a copy of a letter just received from him. Douglas Saville spent a day in the library looking through. SWB suggests that any money received from the sale be divided between the three of them. In the lower margin, beneath the signature, it is indicated that the letter was CC-ed to Ian Stewartby. There is also the manuscript note: "Ian, Thank you so much. I do like Douglas".
Blunt, Simon W.Letter from Simon Blunt to Georgina Morley with reply on Georgina Morley's behalf:
(a) letter from Simon Blunt to Georgina Morley, typescript (copy), single page, dated 19 May 2000, with the heading "Anthony Blunt", underlined and in bold, upper-case letters, expressing concern that Mrs Miranda Carter, who is writing a biography of SWB's brother Anthony, is unwilling to make the changes to her draft chapters that he has requested. In his letter, SWB refers to a copy of a letter that he had sent to Mrs Carter in making his request.
(b) letter signed by Stephanie B[......] on Georgina Morley's behalf in reply to Simon, typescript (copy), single page, dated 26 May 2000, acknowledging that Mrs Carter's text may not express the facts as seen by others, she is careful to stress that Mrs Carter's account is "necessarily somewhat subjective" while also noting that it is still a draft text and subject to further revision.
Letter from Simon Blunt to Miranda Carter, in typescript (copy), two pages on two folios (recto only), dated 2 April 2000, in response to a letter from Miranda Carter dated 1 March. SWB takes issue with Miranda Carter's characterisation of the family the draft chapters for her biography of Anthony Blunt as unbalanced and sensational. He also hopes that the biography will not give undue prominence to his homosexuality and expresses a willingness to assist her with factual details to improve the accuracy of her depiction of the family. There is attached a yellow post-it note with the following, in manuscript, undated: "Ian, Here is the cover letter to Miranda Carter. I also attached six pages of detailed comments. I await her reply. Simon. Thanks for your help".

Blunt, Simon W.Two letters from Simon Blunt, the first with attachment:
(a) letter from Simon Blunt, manuscript, single page, dated 3 November 1987, providing cover for the attachment and giving a little background. He says that the attachment is an extract from Christopher Blunt's "book of wishes", something that he prepared when recently in America, and that it encapsulates his views. Simon says that he transcribed a copy from his father's reading, though his father does not know about the transcription, which is attached:
(b) attachment to the above letter, entitled "Extract from Christopher Blunt's book of wishes", typescript, single page, dated 1986, in which CEB acknowledges that his coin collection makes up the bulk of his estate and ruminates on the best way(s) to dispose of the collection.
(c) letter from Simon Blunt, manuscript, a little more than one page on one folio (recto & verso), dated 11 November 1987, conveying his father's appreciation of Ian Stewart's support and his memorandum (see JCPP/Stewartby/1/1/BLUNTC/1987/1(a)) and referring to an enclosure of a document entitled "Acceptance in Lieu", which is no longer associated with the latter. He says that [his wife] Julia is bringing to London three volumes on Scottish coins that CEB wanted IS to have.
Two papers of biographical information on Christopher E. Blunt, one by CEB and the other by his son Simon Blunt.
(a) 'Biographical Data of C. E. Blunt', typescript (photocopy), three pages on three folios (recto only), unattributed and undated but written in the first person and attributable to CEB and therefore datable to before 20 November 1987 when CEB died.
(b) 'Further Biographical data of E. E. Blunt', typescript (photocopy), two pages on two folios (recto only), signed 'S W Blunt, 6 December 1987,
