Smaller receipt for work done to the kitchen, buttery, and College rooms between 24th November 1855 and 6th September 1856. Items billed for the kitchen include: point to window; fasten the mortar and irons to ditto; repair flue of copper; work to flue of copper & fresh bed ditto; work to coppers, new furnace & reset ditto, work to hot plates, repair the oven, mend & whitening the walls & jobs[?]; bricklayer & labourer 4 1/2 days; 25 welch furnace bricks; 14 hods mortar; 4 hods hair mortar; 60 tiles; 2 slates; cement, plaster of Paris; limewash, whitening & size. Items billed for the buttery include: wash & stop ceiling & limewash part of cellar, repair floor etc.; bricklayer & labourer 1 3/4 day & limewash; whitewash the ceiling. Items billed for repairs to rooms include: First Court. D Staircase repair walls of rooms etc.; bricklayer & labourer 1 1/2 day; 1 hod stucco; 2 pecks plaster; ditto repair fireplace in room, bricklayer & labourer 1/4 day; 1/4 peck plaster of Paris. Larger receipt for work done to the Master's Lodge and around College between 17th November 1855 and 18th October 1856. Items billed for the Master's Lodge include: repair the slating & plastering & lay fillets to garden water closet; bricklayer & labourer 1 day; 2 hods hair mortar, 1 peck plaster, 4 slates & nails 12 bath[?] & nails; raise the garden wall & point to ditto; bricklayer & labourer 4 days; 1500 bricks & carting; 2 loads mortar & carting, 1 load sand, 1 cask Roman cement; work continued & finish to raising the garden wall & point to ditto – all the top laid in cement, 2 bricklayers & 2 labourers 4 1/2 days; 1000 bricks & carting; 4 bushels cement & wash'd sand; build a slope all along the wall next the Porter's premises & the roadway, had to rebuild the whole slope nearly, also repair tiling to shed, & repair the brickwork to frames; 2 bricklayers & 2 labourers 2 1/2 days; 30 hods mortar, 150 bricks; 25 tiles, cement etc & 2 loads rubbish carted away; take out stove in bedroom & clear out rubbish, and work to chimney; bricklayer & labourer 2 1/2 days; 10 hods mortar; wash & mend to 4 ceilings, and to the walls of the pantry & passage; repair walls for paint, repair the floor & point to stove; bricklayer and labourer 2 3/4 days; 1 1/2 peck parian cement; 6 floor bricks; whitewash the ceiling and colour the walls; 56 yards whitewash; 27 yards colour; work to chimney, I found the inside so large & loose, had to entirely build a new flue inside the old one & line the new flue with glazed tubes; work to and alter the formation of flue at top put down a new back hearth & reset the stove; clear away rubbish etc.; bricklayer & labourer 6 days; 40 hods mortar, 200 bricks; eight 9in glazed tubes; 1 bushel cement; a new back hearth; 1/2 peck plaster of Paris; wash & mend the kitchen, scullery, larder, entrance, passages, cupboard, water closet in garden, & the back staircase; 3 men 1 1/2 day; 2 pecks plaster of Paris, 1 hod hair mortar; whitewash the above places, 234 yards.
