Biographical history

Mary Gilder (1743-1823) was born Mary Brazier in Manchester, and married Reverend Jonathan Gilder in Layston, Hertford, in 1759. Jonathan Gilder was an alumnus of Christ Church College, Oxford, and the vicar of Aspenden and chaplain to Lord Bellenden; he died in 1779. Mary Gilder’s grandson was Laurence Baker, fellow of St John’s college, Cambridge.

Mrs Gilder of Bromley College having requested Mr Baker of St John's to inform the Bursar of Jesus, that the letter from him reached her on the 10th instant. Mr Baker called on Mr Hustler, and was disappointed in not meeting with him at his rooms.
