Scope and content

Comprises correspondence, mainly with Professor Walton Fuller (School of Biological Sciences, University of London) and Professor Maurice Wilkins (President, British Society for Social Responsibility in Science), on Bronowski giving a paper on 'The Disestablishment of Science' at a meeting of the British Society for Social Responsibility in Science (Nov 1970), and subsequent publication in a book entitled 'The Social Impact of Modern Biology'.

Also includes: a typescript [of debate from the conference]; a photocopy of a press cutting about the conference (The Observer, 29 Nov 1970); publication proofs of 'The Disestablishment of Science' [for 'The Social Impact of Modern Biology']; and a page from the Bernal lecture (1971) by Sir Eric Ashby on 'Science and antiscience'.

Appraisal, destruction and scheduling

A "second draft" of 'The Disestablishment of Science' was removed from this file as it was a duplicate of a typescript in Bronowski 5/5/9/1.
