Comprises: [expanded notes that Bronowski had written, May 1970] for programmes 1-11 with outlines for programmes 12 and 13; letters to Adrian Malone (Bronowski sending his expanded notes/treatments, and responding to Malone's first script treatments), Robert Reid (on outcomes of meeting in Paris to plan 'The Ascent of Man' series), and Dr Edwin Lennox on using an orchestra to illustrate a cell for programme 12; an annotated outline for 'The Ascent of Man' series; an annotated BBC document entitled 'The Ascent of Man: a series suggestion for thirteen colour film documentaries' (Oct 1969); an outline of the series entitled 'The Ascent of Man: an Intellectual Biography' and a sample script for programme 7 'The Majestic Clockwork' by Bronowski (Aug 1969); a copy of Adrian Malone's first treatments of the script; and an outline list of concepts for the series.
