Immediate source of acquisition or transfer
John Gunthorpe bequeathed this vol. (possibly with others) in 1498 - see his entry in Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. A note inside the front cover says he bought it in London on 20 Dec. 1484 for fifteen shillings. M. R. James believed the 15C contents list is in the hand of the abbey librarian of Bury St Edmunds.
