Ernest is an old Latymerian and Pars reveals to him that he is not that attached to the school as no one there has ever taken any "notice of his existance" and they never asked him to be governor. He states his interest wained when they lost interest in him. He's been the governor of the Sevenoaks School which he finds far more rewarding.
