Written from Moor Monkton. Mr Calvert finally consented to providing a site for the Chapel at the corner of his orchard next to the old road about 50 yards from his new house occupied by Elsworth his tenant and about 40 yards this side of Kirk's field where originally it was going to be sited. It will now be more in the wold and so a pretty object to view to travellers. It is on the usual route from Marston and York. Hopes French will write to Mr. Calvert to thank him as he thinks he would like a pat on the back. No point in employing an architect as he can ask Mr Allen, the vicar of Easingwold, for help. He is very clever in these matters. When this is done, he will meet Mr. Russell to fix a day to meet Freeman in York to furnish them with an estimate. Mr. Calvert thinks it will now have to be built of brick but should have stone on the corners. Would be best for French to communicate directly with Russell about this. He has been out shooting twice but missed everything. Post is now established there and is a great convenience. Spent a fortnight at Elkington Hall which has beautiful scenery with the Smyths who are very rich. Hopes his aunt and the chicks (French's daughters) are well. They've marked out the site on the Glebe. Holgate fears they may change their course.
