Scope and content

Copy of letter from Stewart Lyon to Patrick Wormald, typescript, single page, dated 10 August 2000, with attachments. In the letter, CSSL thanks PW for his letter and copy of the Athelstan book proposal. He says that he hopes to draft a chapter on the coinage to turn over to Ian [Stewart] in the autumn with the aim of having an agreed joint draft by the end of the year. He notes that he is writing a chapter on the coinage of Edward the Elder for a book project of David Hill and Nick Higham and includes a late draft as a potential model for the Athelstan chapter. There are three attachments, all for the benefit of Ian Stewart:
(a) manuscript, yellow "post-it" note, dated 10 August, to Ian [Stewart], "in case PW did not send [to him] his letter of 4 August", and asking whether he will see IS at a certain forthcoming "farewell".
(b) faded copy of Patrick Wormald's letter to Stewart Lyon of 4 August 2000.
(c) faded copy of Patrick Wormald'sbook proposal for a volume entitled "Athelstan, first king of England (924-39)".
