Scope and content

Letter from Stewart Lyon, in typescript, two pages, dated 2 January 1977, thanking IS for the breakfast of the day before and expressing delight in meeting the others who were in attendance, though most of the discussion revolves around coinage. The three longer paragraphs touch upon a thrymsa that appears to be a Wessex imitation of a Frankish prototype, a solidus with the runic letters HAMA and the weight of the mancuses. There is also a brief paragraph – in the penultimates one – about coins in Sutherland's Anglo-Saxon Gold Coinage that SL believes came from the same retouched die.
