Letter from Stewart Lyon, in manuscript, two pages on two folios, dated 22 March 1979, about the chronology of the St Peter coinage. CSSL poses a series of questions to IS about the problem of chronology, starting with the affinities between the Karolus St Peter and the Karolus Raienalt [?]. He then asks about stylistic similarities between some specimens with sword and some without (e.g. Oxford 229 & 230), noting that the swordless St Peters in the hoard from St John's, Chester, which is relatively late, "are more degenerate". He brings other hoards into the discussion, including Morley St Peter, Geashill and Bangor, before concluding with a query about SCBI 71 with an obverse legend that appears to refer to an Edmund, but "which Edmund"?!
