Letter from Richard Rowe to William French, written from Jesus College. Both he and Birkett have looked in the last Audit account to find the Somerville money appears on both sides among the other scholarships. Can't work out why. Not sure if already paid to Mr. Merry or not and entry in his Barkers pass book suggests Merry was paid. Also notes reserved rents for Hauxton paid to the Bishop of Ely and other amounts shown in the bankers book. Mr Cuthbert called on Rowe that evening and paid him by cheque, notes and cash. An undergraduate of St. John's, Mr Newham of Lancashire, has applied to Mr. Birkett for migrating to Jesus. Intelligent but doesn't meet the usual requirements of keeping terms. Could this be relaxed in his case?
