Scope and content

Letter from R. Headly to William French, written from 47 New Square, Cambridge. Has been anxiously waiting for French's reply to his letter concerning the taking down of the cart lodge but not sure whether it would be valued by either Mr Emson or the College. Mr. Emson has in his employ the man who built it three years previously, T. Lagdon. Headly has found French's 'conduct to me throughout to be consistent with that grinding and overreaching disposition which you stand so preeminent in the public estimation'.
