Letter from Philip Whitting, in manuscript, one folio (recto & verso), dated 21 December 1962, regarding a "most confusing anonymous overstrike" with the letter Anon I on one side and the letter Anon E on the other, attributed respectively to Nicephorus III (1078-1081) and Isaac I (1057-1059). He advises "don't on any account get rid of it except to someone who will keep it properly". One main problem in interpreting the coin is that the bust of Christ is "so entirely dominant" on the side with Anon E. The attachment consists of PW's manuscript notes in pencil, single page, undated, concerning the mysterious coin in the event that IS may wish to follow it up, but he says "everything significant is included above". For cataloguing, he suggests describing it "as Anon I over E with H.IV. other beneath".
