Scope and content

Letter from Peter Seaby to Ian Stewart, typescript, single page, dated 27 October 1975, thanking IS "for the photocopy of [W.J.] Andrew's paper [on 'Some coins of the reign of Stephen, A.D. 1135-1154'] published in 1914 [Numismatic] Circular", noting that many of his theories are no longer valid, but that the questions he raised about the French coinage of the counts of Boulogne are important ones. As far as Andrew's idea that "the York 'decorative' series" ran from 1137 to 1153, he feels that the coins "were probably issued during a period of possibly not more than a couple of years" and he hopes to put his thoughts together on the subject over the next few months.
