Letter from Mr B. Court, in manuscript, undated but with an attachment dated October 1992. In the letter, Mr Court informs IS that he has found two pennies of Offa, presumably with a metal detector, on farmland at Aiskew, near Bedale, North Yorkshire, on a site that has yielded other Offa coins. Mr Court describes one as an unrecorded type of the moneyer Ealmund in excellent condition. The other is of the moneyer Ethelwald. In the letter, he states that he enclosing a self-addressed envelope and asks IS to use it to return the photos and information sheet. The attachments include (a) an article of Derek Chick, 'A portrait coinage for Offa in East Anglia', NCirc, vol. 97 (July-August 1989), pp. 191-192, with two photocopies of the same; and (b) a copy of the information sheet, prepared by Derek Chick and dated October 1992, to which Mr Court alluded in his letter.
