Letter from Mark Blackburn advising IS that he has been commissioned to write a 3000-word article for a volume to commemorate the battle of Maldon in 991 on the coinage of Æthelred, a subject on which IS had already written so well. MB justified accepting the commission on the grounds that his view of the coinage differs from that of IS on a couple of points, and he briefly explains them, adding that he would be grateful for any comments. There are some annotations or notes on the verso side of the letter. The attachment is a proof of the article in question.
