Letter from Maria E Parish to William French. Parish writes to French to describe that her family live in a small village and that they recently became acquainted with a family with the name Arthey and that J. H. Arthey is one of the students at Jesus College. Arthey declared himself to be Parish's lover and that his intentions towards her were just and honorable and that his family were aware of his feelings. He visited his family the October previous and increased the frequency of his visits to Parish's parents' house. Parish suggests Arthey cut off links to her once she discovered she was pregnant. Parish's father died due to the grief brought upon him by her and her situation. Asks if French can talk to Arthey. She admits to having done wrong but feels she should not be left alone to cope with the situation. The date on this letter may be incorrect suggested by the letter from Maria's mother and was most likely written in 1822.
