Scope and content

Written from 3 St. Mary Axe. By French's instructions they have send three dozen wine including one dozen champagne, one dozen Sparks Hock and one dozen of claret, all packed in Champagne cases instead of a hamper. Quantity of claret is small as quality is so good. Sent the best 1841 claret. The champagne should be agreeable as it is exactly what was drunk at his sister's wedding in Rye. As such he says it will be extremely suitable for the purpose for which French proposes to use a portion of it.
