Scope and content

Letter from Jeffrey North, manuscript, dated 20 June 1970, in reaction to reading the article of IS on the Naxos hoard. He says that he was in correspondence with the vendor of the hoard over certain coins that he was unable to identify. At the time, the vendor had retained a number of the coins including the only Rhuddlan penny from the hoard, though it is possible that he has since sold them to Coins and Antiquities Ltd. He is writing, he says, to suggest to IS that he may wish to communicate with the vendor in the interest of completing his record of the hoard. He was willing to help but wished to remain anonymous in any publication of the hoard. JJN gives his name as Dr P. Protonotarios of Athens
