Copy of a letter from Jean Floud, Principal, Newnham College, in her capacity as Chairman of the Fitzwilliam Museum Syndicate, in typescript, two pages on two folios (recto only), dated 22 February 1983, with two-page attachment, in typescript, to the Patronage Secretary, Prime Minister's Office, 10 Downing Street, London SW1, and copied to the Director, Fitzwilliam Museum; Deputy Director, J. G. Pollard; Ian Stewart, MP; C. H. V. Sutherland. In the letter, JEF proposes the award of a Knighthood to Philip Grierson, Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, summarising his service to the Fitzwilliam Museum and University of Cambridge, noting the forthcoming publication of his Festschrift as well as the first volume in his catalogue of the Grierson Collection of Medieval European coins in the Fitzwilliam Museum, and indicating that the recommendation enjoys the support of the editors of the editors of the Festschrift and other noteworthy individuals. She appends "an account of his [i.e. Professor Grierson] achievements".
