Letter from Jacobene Lucas, in manuscript, one folio (recto & verso), dated 24 April 1990, replying to a recent letter from letter from IS with a photocopy of his recent contribution to the Numismatic Circular [on the Shillington hoard]. She regrets that she is unable to help IS in enquiries about Lucas ancestors living in Shillington in the 18th-19th centuries, as she is aware only that Captain R. B. Lucas, her father-in-law, purchased the manor from the Musgrave family in 1911. There are press clippings, she says, that [her husband?] John kept about the destruction of the manor house by fire in 1915 [while Captain Lucas was at the front], but there is "only a little history of previous owners prior to Joseph Musgrave". She invites him to visit and look at the clippings if he is interested.
