Scope and content

Letter from J. P. Birkett to William French, written from Fawdon House, Newcastle upon Tyne or possibly Kelloe Vicarage, Durham. Gibson wrote to him to tell him Roughton had been to see him to tell him about his admission to the vacant fellowship. He only stayed in Cambridge an hour so afterwards before heading back to Kent where he had pupils over the long vacation. Birkett is nominating Roughton as the Mathematical lecturer. Correspondence to him should be addressed F. J. Roughton, Kettering, Northamptonshire. Will write to Roughton asking him to come up to Cambridge as soon as he can after the 9th October (when he gets back to Cambridge) so that he has the choice of all the currently vacant rooms in College.
