Scope and content
Written from St. James' Street. Has forwarded French's letter to Mr. Johnson, Fielding's brother in law. As French knows the resignation was announced by the Duke and his Robert Peel. The new ministry mean to conciliate the parish by sending Jock Campbell to Coventry and by appointing Brady, an Irishman, as Sir E Sugden's successor. They will then try to gratify the church by conceding Bangor and St. Asaph Bishopric question. He wanted to visit, but the Chancellor took up his time when he was last in Cambridge. Not appointed to the Insolvent Court in London but the Court of Bankruptcy in Liverpool. The pay is good, but it has the drawback of being a country appointment.
