Letter from G. Maddison to William French, 10th October 1844. Written from Cambridge. Concerns Maddison's position with regard the extension of burial grounds. Hopes French won't mind if they add his name to the list of committee members even if he isn't able to attend meetings to begin with. The committee to consists of clergymen, church wardens, members of the university and leading inhabitants of the town. Includes printed notice from James Scholefield, official to the Archdeacon of Ely, with regard to a meeting the Archdeacon has called with regard this matter. Describes aims of the committee. This led to the creation of the Mill Road Cemetery which opened in 1848.
