Letter from Eric Harris, dated 7 August [1996], with three attachments, concerning some of the finer details involved in his preparations of the text and illustrations for his article on "Die pairing on the transitional coins of Henry IV and Henry V", BNJ, vol. 67 (1997), pp. 20-29. The letter concludes with a short paragraph EH states that he has "now done some electron micrographs and analyses of sections across some 10th C coins like my Eadgar (see BNJ 31, p. 159)". He further states that "the Eadgar examples are composite multilayer sandwiches with base alloy containing zinc and or lead and sometimes arsenic in the middle". The attachments include (a) a working draft text of the paper, 8pp double-sided; (b) draft chart for half-groats, 1p, with examples of lettering taken from the coin specimens under study; (c) photocopy of relevant coin images, 2pp; (d) list of die links numbered 1-30 with a short set of notes delineating seven points (1-7); and (e) a further page of notes in the manuscript hand of IS.
