Scope and content
Letter from Edgar Winstanley, in manuscript, one folio (recto & verso), dated 2 December 1968, thanking IS for his "kind words about the S.S. medal". He explains that he has written an account of the sovereign groat for the Albert Baldwin memorial volume and asks whether he may send IS a copy of the typescript without impropriety. He further says that he had written to IS some time earlier to ask about the correspondence that passed between [Christopher] Blunt and himself about the sovereign groat. In the end, he did what he could from memory, concluding that the coin is "a genuine pattern piece".
